Product Review: Snaks 5th Avenchew Pony Pop Tarts

I caught wind of Snaks 5th Avenchew because of a contest they are currently doing with Ogilvy Equestrian. I remember a few years ago I used to struggle in finding companies that made unique, yet healthy, snacks for my horses, and now it seems many of them have cropped up. However, I hadn’t yet come across Snacks 5th Avenchew, and I loved their website and what they had to offer. I decided to order some treats for my horses and test out whether these all natural goodies were as enjoyable as the commercial stuff.

I decided to try the Pony Pop Tarts which actually look like real Pop Tarts. The order included 6, and since I have two horses, that meant I could split the treats evenly (don’t worry, they didn’t get three in one day). The treats shipped a day after I ordered them and arrived the day after that. They were sent using one day shipping, for those of you that may be wondering why shipping is so expensive. I appreciated this because the snacks are all natural, so they don’t have as long a shelf life as some of the commercialized products on the market.

When I received the treats, they were contained in a cute little box as you can see below. The treats were also bubble wrapped to protect them during shipping, but I removed the bubble wrap for the photo.

The Pony Pop Tarts were packaged nicely and came in this cute little box.

An instruction sheet was also included. Among other things, it told me what was in the treats, that the treats were infused with vitamins and minerals to promote organ & joint nutrition, and that the treats were all-natural, allergy free, and homemade. I also really appreciated that they gave an expiration date for the Pony Pop Tarts. I also struggle in finding the expiration date on treats – some bags don’t even have one! With Snaks 5th Avenchew, you know how long you have before you shouldn’t be giving the treats to your horses anymore. I’m not sure about all the rest of the products the company offers, but for the Pony Pop Tarts, the shelf life is about a month and a half.

The treats come with an instruction sheet that includes the ingredients contained in the treat and an expiration date.

When I ordered the Pony Pop Tarts, there was also an option for sugar free. While neither of my boys needs to be on a sugar free diet, I did order the sugar free treats to see if they were as enjoyable. The treats were crunchy. I also may or may not have licked them to see what they tasted like, and they were quite good (yeah okay, like you’ve never tried horse treats? Quit judging me…)

So, now for the horse taste test. I actually videoed both of my guys eating their treats. As you can see below, they both loved them and wanted to eat the whole box. Overall, the Pony Pop Tarts were a success, and I can also say I no longer have anymore at the time I am writing this post. However, I do plan on purchasing more from Snaks 5th Avenchew, particularly the Birth-Neigh Cake. Just like the Pony Pop Tarts, the cake comes in a sugar free version, and you can pick what color icing you would like.

I will caution that if your horse does not have a good set of chompers, like Tempo, these treats aren’t the easiest for them to chew. Tempo had some trouble chewing the Pop Tarts, so I think next time I will be wetting them so they are a little bit softer for him and easier for him to chew and swallow. I will also say that Tempo is an extreme case. He was not cared for very well by previous owners, and he had a lot of teeth issues when I got him 8 years ago. Even though I have kept up with his teeth care on a once a year basis, now twice a year, his teeth are not the greatest, and he will eventually have to be on an all senior diet. This was just my experience with the treats, and I would use your own judgment and knowledge of your horse when feeding anything to him or her – not just these.

Snaks 5th Avenchew has tons of different treat options. All of their treats can be made sugar free, and all of them are all-natural, homemade, and allergy free. Many of their treats can also be customized with different colored icing and shapes, such as the Ringside Rewards. They even have homemade, all-natural, allergy free treats for dogs, and they have a Snak Box subscription service where you can get a monthly box of treats for your horse, dog, or both!

The treats are a bit pricey, so if you are on a budget, this probably isn’t something you can buy all the time. But, if you do want to splurge and get your fur buddy a gourmet snack, Snaks 5th Avenchew is definitely the place to go!

Just got the Pony Pop Tarts a few days ago. My horse LOVES them and apparently my dog does too because he tried to steal part of the treat my horse dropped. I guess I’ll be getting some of their dog teats too! 🙂

Is it simply me or does it look as if like some of
these remarks come across as if they are written by brain dead people?
