As most of you know, a few months ago I got a puppy. He is a miniature dachshund named Jack. While shopping for all the things I would need for my new puppy, I came across the Burt’s Bees pet line. What I loved about this line is that it’s got all the benefits of Burt’s Bees people products: all natural and chemical free. I love all natural pet products (note my affinity for EcoLicious Equestrian), so I couldn’t resist purchasing this to try on my new puppy when bath time came along.Burt’s Bees has several different types of shampoos available for different needs. I got the puppy one to start since, obviously, Jack is a puppy. It is Burt’s Bees 2 in 1 Tearless Shampoo & Conditioner for Puppies. I’ve noticed that it isn’t carried anywhere, but if you have a PetValu nearby; they do carry quite a few Burt’s Bees pets products. I’ve noticed that most of the time, this product line is carried in boutique pet shops – not big chain ones like PetSmart or PetCo.
My boyfriend and I used this shampoo on Jack the first time last week since he was starting to get a little stinky and was finally old enough to be bathed. It does not lather much, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t working. It smells great, and it has plenty of natural ingredients to ensure a soft, clean coat on your pup.
Some of the beneficial ingredients include:
- Linseed oil
Additionally, this shampoo is pH balanced for dogs; has no sulfates (which is something you should look for in shampoos for yourself as well); and no colorants. It also is not tested on animals and is considered cruelty free. This shampoo also does not wash off topical tick and flea treatments so there is no worry about that.
Jack came out smelling great and very clean. His fur was super soft, and he was itching himself a lot less after his bath (He suffers from some dry skin, especially now that the air is so dry due to winter).
I would highly recommend this shampoo, especially if you have a new puppy. I have quite a few other Burt’s Bees dog products as well such as their calming spray, their ear wash, and their waterless shampoo (yes, they make that for dogs too). I also have their nose and paw lotion. Once Jack is considered an adult, I will be purchasing their adult dog shampoos of which they have a huge variety (they have one for soothing dry skin; one for deodorizing; one for soothing skin in general; etc.).
