Amanda is one of the more well-known eq anons. Not only is she known for her bond with her horse Speedy, but she’s also known for being incredibly sweet, supportive, and kind to everyone on Twitter (a rarity these days). Amanda was kind enough to interview with The Legal Equestrian and let us in on her life as a rider and a college student.
Tell us about yourself.: Something that not many people know is that up until I was 9 years old, I was actually terrified of horses! I wouldn’t even ride the ones that were at the local pumpkin patch and went around in circles. I was also frightened of dogs up until I was 11 years old. I think my height (see below) had something to do with it, but my fear was completely irrational! Before I started riding, I was really into dancing (I did tap, ballet, and jazz for seven years).
How long have you been riding?: I started riding in someone’s backyard when I was 9 years old for about a year. I had weekly lessons, but only showed up about half the time due to my dance classes, Hebrew school, and weather. After about nine months, I made the transition from a Western saddle to an English saddle. But, after riding for about a year at that barn, I needed to take a break from riding. I took a year and a half break, and have been riding ever since then. So, at this point, I have been riding for about six and a half years consecutively.
Who do you wish you could clinic with?: No idea!
