It’s a proven fact that the higher end and name brand tack will last longer and look better, but what you don’t know is that you can get replica high-end tack without the brand name or price. I have done my research, own all of these products, and can confirm that they hold up to their name brand competitors.
Here are a couple of my favorite items that won’t leave you scraping the bottom of your piggy bank:
Gatsby Fancy Stitched Raised Bridle
For your typical good quality leather bridle, it could cost hundreds. This bridle is only $53.99 on Horseloverz.com and $47.96 on Amazon. I was a bit skeptical at a first glance because the leather looked stiff and the coloring looked like it could wear off easily, but I was proved wrong immediately upon opening the package. The leather came very supple and oiled. I’ve been using it for 5 months now, and the leather has stayed in excellent condition. The picture actually doesn’t do the bridle justice.
English Fleece Girth
Chick’s Saddlery has this girth on sale for only $24.89. This girth is super comfortable for the horse, non-chafing, and is machine washable. Also unlike most fleece girths, the fleece stays pretty puffy and not worn out looking. Five months in, and it looks only a little used! The fleece also does not discolor, and the girth doesn’t stretch out over time.
Economy Turnout Halter
This halter is only available through Dover Saddlery and is a very affordable $16.99. For a relatively inexpensive leather halter, I have nothing but good things to say about it. It has a breakaway crown piece, which is also adjustable. It also has adjustable chin pieces. It doesn’t rust and has brass finishings. It’s also super easy to clean and stays looking new.
Rider’s International Quilted Saddle Pad
The last thing you want to worry about is not having enough saddle pads for your saddle’s wardrobe (or for your own collection). The Rider’s International Quilted Saddle Pads are only $19.99 at Dover Saddlery. They’re washable, durable, and come in over 10 colors! Also, they’re lightweight for those hot summer days.
