I think it’s great when equestrians also flaunt their entrepreneur side (hey, we’ve got talent other than being able to sit on a 1,000+ pound beast!) Last night I saw a new apparel company advertised on Twitter, and I decided to check it out.
Shiney Pine Design is an apparel business started by Katie Karssen. I love the idea behind her business because it molds her entrepreneurial side with her desire to better her riding career and take advantage of the opportunity to go to WEF next winter (which I think is a dream to which we all can relate).
For those of you wondering where the name came from, Katie leases a horse named Mr. Shiney Pine, or Shoney. Horses are obviously a huge part of all our lives, and what better way to pay tribute than to name your first business after one that has left hoof prints on your heart?
As an added bonus, 10 percent of the Shiney Pine Design sale proceeds will go towards helping OTTB adoption agencies, which is a great cause! There are a lot of horses out there that aren’t as fortunate to have loving owners, and oftentimes adoption and rescue agencies are the backbone to ensuring equine welfare is maintained and bettered for neglected, unwanted, and no-longer-usable equines.
My personal favorite t-shirt is “Jump Big, Dream Bigger.” Shiney Pine has graphic t-shirts for all disciplines including western and dressage!
Also, today Shiney Pine Design announced a giveaway. Check it out on the company’s Facebook page!
